Event Details

The retail real estate market is unique and dramatically different in many respects from the industrial, office and multi-family real estate sectors. In order to be successful in the retail arena, either as a sales agent/broker or as a commercial real estate investor, you must have a crystal clear understanding of the retail market as well as what factors drive the landlords, retail tenants and investors in this market.

In this one day course you will learn about:

·           An overview of the retail real estate market

·           Current issues impacting the retail sector

·           Anchor tenants and the role that they play in shopping center development and operation

·           Trade areas and the many ways they are defined (e.g., drive time, radii, custom polygon, etc.)

·           How a retailer evaluates a site and gathers market data

·           Demographic data and psychographic analysis, how retailers use it and how to obtain it

·           Internet access to retail data sources

·           Retail gap analysis and how to use it to identify opportunities in the market place

·           Percentage rent, how it is calculated and how the percentage lease is administered

·           The important issues in retail leasing

·           Many more relevant retail real estate market issues

This course will be taught by Byron Smith, Sr., Esq., CCIM, CRB, senior instructor, CCIM Institute Faculty.
